Description:During the 2019 Utah Legislative Session, Senate Bill 3 allocated funds for an analysis of the Utah electrical transmission grid. A Transmission Working Group (TWG), guided by the Utah Governor's Office of Energy Development (Utah GOED), was formed to provide input and help guide the study process. The Utah GOED released a request for proposal in the spring of 2020 with the goal of engaging a contractor to analyze and report on the Utah transmission system. The goal of the study was to identify transmission constraints to accessing Utah's resource potential and to provide options to address them. Energy Strategies was selected to perform the Utah Transmission Study, providing interim deliverables to the TWG. A summary of the study results, methods, and assumptions are presented in this technical report.
