Description:The Governor's Clean Air Commission (GCAC) was created February 1989 to help the state meet EPA air quality standards. The Energy Utilization Work Group, one of five, was assigned the task of examining fuel burning emissions sources within Utah in view of suggesting alternative fuels, replacement devices, or corrective strategies. In conjunction with this analyses, recommendations were requested for cost effective control strategies to reduce existing levels of particulate and gaseous emissions. The report summary of recommended alternatives includes recommendations for transporation fuel utilization, residential fuel utilization, industrial/commercial fuel utilization. The report includes presentation slides charting statewide greenhouse gas emissions of SOx (sulphur dioxide), NOx (nitrous oxide), HC (hydrocarbons), and CO (carbon monoxide), emissions from the BAQ 1985, 1986 and 1987 Annual Emissions Inventories for Utah counties along the Wasatch Front., slides for S02 and N0x removal costs, and slides measuring fuel related emissions.
