Description:In 1967, the black-footed ferret was listed as an endangered species and thought to be extinct in the 1970s. Fortunately, the "extinct" label was premature. In 1981, a small population of black-footed ferrets was found near Meeteetse, Wyoming. This discovery brought new hope for the survival of the species.
