Description:The most important findings of this analysis of the leading causes of death in Utah by age and sex from 1988 to 1992 are: 1) Injuries and violence are the principal killers of young people in Utah. Boys and men are disproportionately affected by injuries and violence. Suicide and motor vehicle crashes are the leading causes of death for boys and men from age 15 to age 44. 2) Boys and men die at a substantially higher rate than girls and women at all ages. At younger ages this is mostly due to higher death rates from injuries and violenceat older ages it is mostly due to heart disease and cancer.
